ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Sunday said that he counts late Muhammad Ali Jinnah as the true leader of the country to date.

Addressing a party workers’ convention at the Jinnah convention centre here, Khan said the country’s rulers have done nothing for the common masses rather utilizing the powers to accumulate wealth.

“They have set a wrong precedent and there is a dire need to deplore their past actions,” he said.

Coming down hard on PML-N president Nawaz Sharif, Khan said that disintegration of the state is the top agenda of ousted PM Sharif for apparently employing strong-arm tactics against state institutions.

“Sharifs are making all-out efforts not to be convicted of money laundering in an apparent fear for losing Rs300 billion stashed abroad,” he added.

Unfortunately the country could not find a genuine leader after Mohammad Ali Jinnah, he lamented.

He said that the rulers only care about themselves. “They have been reluctant to spend money on education and social development rather than indulging in making wealth through illegal means,” Khan asserted.

On Friday Khan had called on the masses to stand up in defence of the state institutions after members of legal fraternity affiliated with PML-N staged a rowdy protest inside the accountability courtroom.

Taking to twitter, Khan said that the attack was carried out to protect former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s ‘loot’ wealth worth Rs30 billion which allegedly has been stashed abroad.

He came down hard on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and said that he staged a drama over presence of Rangers’ personnel at NAB court.

He made these remarks in connection with Oct 2 incident when Rangers personnel denied entry to the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal who had arrived at the accountability court to witness the graft proceedings on ex-PM Sharif’s appearance.
