Ikramul Haq alias Lahori, an activist of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) outfit was sentenced to death for murdering Nayyar Abbas Qureshi on sectarian grounds in 2001.

Lahori was initially set to be executed on January 8, 2015, but his hanging was delayed following an application that his family has reached to a compromise with the victim’s family.

However, on January 12, an ATC in Faisalabad rejected the agreement as the aggrieved party did not reach the court to record statement.

Death warrant against Lahori were re-issued on January 13.

Heavy security measures were taken around Kot Lakhpat Central Jail.  Army and rangers personnel were also deployed in and outside the premises.

Ikramul Haq held last meeting with his family on Wednesday. The dead body was handed over to the family after the execution.
