IHC hears Imran Khan’s plea seeking video link appearance

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of former prime minister Imran Khan’s plea seeking a video link appearance for the hearing of cases until Tuesday, ARY News reported.

Former premier Imran Khan filed the petition through Advocate Faisal Fareed Chaudhry in IHC, in which the position was adopted that the PTI chairman has security threats during his appearance in the court. The former premier asked to provide strict security measures for appearing before IHC.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the plea in which Imran Khan’s counsel Abuzar Salman Khan Niazi appeared.

At the outset of the hearing, the IHC CJ remarked can video link appearance be allowed at every stage of cases. In case of an indictment, the presence of the accused is important, can video link appearance be held in this scenario?

The court said the presence of the accused in court is important as per law, how will this be addressed on the video link appearance, the court asked.

The court while summoning the arguments on the legal aspects of the video link appearance adjourned the hearing till Tuesday.
