KARACHI: Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani on Tuesday assured father of Nishwa of action against those responsible of negligence in administration of wrong injection to his daughter, ARY News reported.

“The culprits will be brought to book,” Iftikhar Shalwani said while talking to media outside Liaquat National Hosptial in Karachi.

He said he held a meeting with father of Nishwa.

The commissioner said an impression was being given as if nobody came to inquire after health of the little girl. He said the government would provide, whatever support the hospitals required.

“Wherever the girl will be treated she will be imparted all the health facilities,” he said.

On April 14, a nine-month-old girl had paralysed allegedly after being administered ‘wrong injection’ by ‘untrained nursing staff’ at Darul Sehat Hospital situated in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.

Father of the girl, Qaiser, had alleged that her daughter, Nishwa, was paralysed due to ‘wrong injection’ given to her by the ‘untrained nursing staff’.

Qaiser said that he brought his twin daughters to the hospital for treatment of diarrhoea. He added her daughters were injected three drips on different timings. The father said that condition of one of his daughters Nishwa was worsened just after the family prepared to leave for home.

“My daughter was kept on the ventilator for next one week at the hospital and she was paralysed when doctors removed her from the vent machine,” he added.
