Malala Yousafzai appears on popular U.S. TV show; talks about Nobel Prize, Obama and a lot more

Malala Yousafzai has met many important and influential people from around the world, including the Queen of England and United States President Barrack Obama. The Nobel Prize laureate showed up at the Ellen Degeneres show late Wednesday night and was her usual, admirable self.

Malala talked about a lot of things, especially where she was exactly when she learnt she had won the Nobel Peace prize.

“I was in my chemistry class, studying about atoms and all, when my teacher came to tell me you have been awarded the Nobel Peace prize. I was like, okay,” said the teenage girl as Ellen’s audience burst out laughing.

Malala also revealed how little girls around the world who could not avail education, even in its most basic forms.

” There are schools around the world in which women can’t get proper education. At times there are no teachers in a school and at times there are no desks. I feel women should feel privileged that they get to study in proper classrooms with labs and stuff,” said the 18 year-old Pakistani.

Malala also spoke about her father and how his attitude had always been an encouraging one.

“I would like to attribute a lot of my success to my father, for always being there for me. My mother as well, since she loves and supports me in my endeavours. Also, a little to my brothers too,” she said with a smile, as the audience erupted into another laugh.

Malala also shared details about her meeting with President Obama at the White House and how she had told him not to use drones in Pakistan.

“You have to give the right people the right message,” she said. “Do not get shy or feel that they would mind it. It’s their duty, I didn’t tell them to do anything extra.”

He Named Her Malala, a documentary on Malala Yousafzai will be initially released in the United States on October 2, 2015.
