KARACHI: The honorary consulate general of Somalia located in the upscale Clifton area was reportedly robbed on Friday night, ARY News reported.
Police said around six men entered the premises of the consulate after cutting through barbed wire. They stayed there for over three hours and completely ransacked the premises.
Chief Protocol Officer said the robbers held two security guards hostage. The robbers also took away two laptops, three mobile phones and cash, as well as the closed-circuit TV footage.
Police have started further
investigation in the incident. DIG South said the robbery took place in pharmaceutical company which also served as a honorary consulate. It was set up on March 16 to enhance diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Somalia.Inspector General Sindh A.D. Khawaja has taken strict notice of the incident, and sought a detailed inquiry report from DIG South. He said that the police deployment and patrolling in the area should also be mentioned in the report. He also called for the speedy arrest of the perpetrators.
