‘High time now for govt, PTI to sit on negotiation table’

The jirga, tasked with mediation, sat Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  and the government on negotiation table for at least 37 times.

Speaking to media here, he said the jirga talked to government about PTI demands. The former sought withdrawal of demand seeking resignation of the PM, he added.

Both the sides agreed on formation of judicial commission to probe rigging. This, he said, all happened due to efforts of the mediators.

Siraj said the time had arrived that judicial commission should be formed to probe rigging issue.

PPP Senator Rehman Malik said the jirga’s efforts were commendable in settling the dispute.

He said the jirga attempted its best to convince both the sides to hold talks.

The situation developed on Monday, violence in Faisalabad, does not seem good for future prospects of talks. This could prove damaging in future, he said.
