The policemen from the two provinces have been engaged in an operation against the bandit gangs of Sultu Shar and Chhotu Bakhrani for last two weeks, sources said.
SSP Ghotki Saqib Sultan while talking to ARY News claimed that the terrorists involved in Peshawar tragedy have taken refuge with the bandit gangs in river forests along the Indus. SSP Ghotki also claimed that the terrorists hiding in these forests have been heavily armed and they also have anti-aircraft guns, landmines and other sophisticated weapons.
The policemen from Sindh and Punjab fighting with bandits for the last two weeks but failed to clear the area.
According to police sources a police official and 15 bandits have been killed in fighting so far.
A major police operation was launched against the bandits in the area after kidnapping of seven policemen from a police post in Rahim Yar Khan. Police recovered the policemen from the bandits under a deal on the condition of safe passage for the abductors.

Riverine forests
The riverine forests in the province of Sindh and southern belt of Punjab have remain a hotbed of bandit gangs involved in kidnappings and other crimes on the both banks of the Indus River. These areas are inaccessible and virtually a no go area for police and other law enforcement agencies. So as, remain an ideal refuge for the outlaws.
RAHIM Yar Khan/GHOTKI: A police operation has been underway against bandits in riverine forests in the border area between Sindh and Punjab provinces, ARY News reported on Friday.
