Hanif Abbasi serves Sheikh Rasheed Rs10 bln defamation notice

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi on Thursday served a Rs10 billion defamation notice to Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed.

Additional Sessions Judge Gulzar Ahmed issued notice to the AML chief to appear before the court on August 3.

The notice stipulates that Rasheed had falsely claimed that the plaintiff obtained two tonnes of heroin and faced a case in the court while addressing a group of people at a breakfast meeting hosted by Abid Mughal at Dhoke Khabba in Rawalpindi on May 14, 2017.

Receiving the notice at his residence Lal Haveli in Rawalpindi, the AML chief said that he will appear before the court and defend his stance. “I will prove my claim in the court that Abbasi had faced a case pertaining to drugs peddling,” he told reporters.
