‘Wonder Woman’ is a global hit and reports suggest that the movie’s international numbers are higher than many other super hero films including the first two “Thor” and “Iron Man” movies, both “Guardians of the Galaxy” volumes, and “Man of Steel.”
Israeli actress Gal Gadot stars in the film as the hero.
But few have noted what Hamza Ali Abbasi noted and he has raised a very valid point about the actress playing the protagonist in the super hero movie.
The ‘Pyare Afzal’ actor who is known for expressing his views on Facebook and wearing all he believes on his sleeve, wrote on June 9 that the whole world has no objection when a former Israeli soldier ” who supports Zionism and the massacre of Palestinians is playing Wonder Woman”.
The actor maintained that he knows that “art should be beyond such mortal feeble political arguments” but continued his argument with a question.
“What if… a public supporter of Nazi ideology who endorsed the Holocaust was playing the lead character in a film? The film would be globally banned and that actor would be condemned as a criminal who supports a massacre, some countries like France would even arrrest the actor for supporting the Holocaust” reads his Facebook post.
Hamza ends his post with a famous quote
“Unless the Lion learns how to write, history will always glorify the hunter”
It must be remembered that the Israeli actress, at the age of 20, had served for two years as an enlisted soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, serving as a combat trainer.
She says of her time in the army: “You give two or three years, and it’s not about you. You learn discipline and respect”
It is pertinent to note here that Wonder Woman is not Gadot’s first Hollywood venture.
She is also known for her role in the Fast and Furious franchise and made her debut as Diana Prince in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”.
Reports suggest that she will also appear at least twice more in both “Justice League” movies if she doesn’t get a sequel of her own.
