NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Funeral prayers of slain labourers – who were gunned down in Gwadar – were offered in their native village Siddique Lakho on Sunday, ARY News reported.

The bodies of the victims were transported to their hometown in C-130 military aircraft.

The entire village is in state of mourning in wake of coldblooded murder of the labourers. Two of the victims were brothers while some other were about to marry in coming months.

The bodies were buried by relatives amid a large attendance of locals and government officials.

The daily-wage workers came under two separate brazen assaults in Pishukan and Ganz area of Gwadar district where they were working on an under construction link-road.

A banned militant group has reportedly claimed the responsibility of the attack.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif  and Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has condemned the cowardly attack on the daily-wage workers.

It is pertinent to mention that a greater push towards peace and development by government authorities has reduced the violence considerably in recent years.

The push includes starting work on a massive Chinese infrastructure project — the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor — which gives Beijing a route to the Arabian Sea through Balochistan’s deep sea port of Gwadar.
