Govt launches ‘Pedal for Health’ campaign in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The government on Sunday launched ‘Pedal for Health’ campaign at Liaquat Gymnasium in Islamabad, ARY News reported.

Federal Minister for Health Services Aamir Mehmood Kiani inaugurated the campaign, which would be run under the Ministry of Health, by pedaling a cycle. Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur and Adviser to Prime Minister Iftikhar Durrani also pedaled bicycle.

Aamir Mehmood Kiani said the government would make Islamabad a model health city. He said the government was taking measures for promotion of healthy activities in the country.

“Cycling is just the beginning of healthy activities as we have initiated a health facility programme to improve health sector,” he said.

On March 4, Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed to expedite the development work pace for transforming Islamabad into a model city.

“Islamabad is one of the beautiful cities of the world, the work pace should be accelerated,” the prime minister had said while expressing his views, in a meeting with the elected representatives of Islamabad, who called on him at his office.

In November last year, PM Imran Khan was briefed on various short and mid-term initiatives to transform Islamabad into a model city, the progress towards revision of master plan of the capital and the successes made so far in anti-encroachment drive and campaign against land mafia in the centre.
