After Sindh, Punjab to open its Governor House for general public

LAHORE:Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar on Monday announced to open Governor House Punjab for general public on Sundays, ARY News reported.

“Government buildings are a national asset. All around the world people are at liberty to visit their government buildings without any restrictions, we also want our people to be able to have the same experience,” Chaudhry Sarwar said while addressing a press conference in Lahore.

According to Sarwar, the Governor House Punjab will remain open from 10am to 6pm on sundays and the grounds except the residential areas will be accessible to the public.

“We want people to recognize these government buildings as a national asset and be able to come and visit with their families at ease” said Sarwar.

“We are also planning to open the house to school children so they can visit as a part of their school field trip. We assure the safety of civilians visiting the house” he added.

“This initiative have been taken on instructions laid by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan” said Sarwar, adding that he wants to make sure that these public places should finally be treated as “public places”.

The Governor also addressed the water related issues of the province;

“More than 11,00, 000 people have lost  their lives by consuming unhygienic drinking water, no other country has faced such a loss so quietly, the medical camps set by the government reported that 80% people who come for treatment are facing health issues after consuming contaminated water.”

The governor said that most children are absent in school because they don’t have access to clean drinking water.

“We have planted water filters in school and fortunately we are seeing a gradual progress in student’s health.This is a  small initiative towards a greater problem  but we are taking all measures that might help diminish this issue” said Sarwar.

He also urged people to use water efficiently and with care as Pakistan is facing shortage of water and if appropriate measures are not taken Pakistan may enter water crises in the future.
