According to details, the fire broke out in three shops of the centrally-located market leaving goods worth of millions turned into ash.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the inferno after several hours of struggle. Seven fire tenders took part in the fire fighting.
Local volunteers also assisted the fire fighting teams in extinguishing the blaze.
In December last year more than 100 cloth shops and stalls were gutted in a major fire incident in the cloth market of the city when blaze tore through the market.
The civic bodies in most of Pakistani cities have insufficient fire fighting equipment and scarcity of personnel. Moreover, narrow lanes in market areas make the blaze incidents more dangerous causing hurdles for the fire tenders to access the fire spot thus causing huge losses.
