Global Hockey League to replace Champions Trophy

According to details, FIH has decided to revamp the world hockey structure and Champions Trophy will be replaced with Global Hockey League. The final edition of Champions Trophy will be contested in 2018.

The first edition of Global Hockey League will be contested between seven teams and will be played in 2019.

Sources reported that FIH made the decision of scrapping the tournament, which was held successfully for three decades, on pressure by India.

Champions Trophy was first played in 1978 and Pakistan in which Pakistan had emerged victorious.
