KARACHI: Police on Thursday recovered a teenage girl from Karachi’s Surjani Town area, hours after her mysterious disappearance from Peer Ilahi Bukhsh Colony area of the city, ARY News reported.
The teenager, whose parents had registered a kidnapping case after her disappearance on Wednesday, was recovered along with a male friend from the city’s Surjani Town area.
The girl’s parents had told media that the 15-year-old left school for home but never returned prompting them to approach police and file a kidnapping case.

Hours after the registration of case, the police claimed to have recovered the duo from Surjani Town area. The girl, in her statement, told police that she went with the boy on her own free will and wanted to live with him.
The boy named Waqas Manzoor, too told the law enforcement agency that he advised the girl against eloping but she persisted upon which he decided to take her along with him. The duo were arrested after police tracked the boy’s cellphone to get information about his location.
As soon as the news of girl’s disappearance had reached PIB Colony, parents, relatives and area residents staged a protest to demand her recovery. The protesters had demanded from the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the incident and other kidnappings in Karachi.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar too joined the protesters and urged the police to take prompt action to overcome the rising incidents of kidnappings in the city.
“Police (through their inaction) have allowed the criminals to kidnap people with impunity in Karachi, this trend should stop,” Sattar had said.
Police have also registered a case against Farooq Sattar for hindering their work and damaging public property during protest.
