ISLAMABAD: The game is over now. This is the foundation of “Naya Pakistan”, remarked Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan in a press conference after the Joint Investigation Team, probing offshore properties of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members, submitted its report to the Supreme Court, ARY News reported.

“What I feared has turned out to be true. They (the Sharif family) have been proven guilty. They tried their best to put obstructions in the way of justice, however the judiciary did not accede to their will,” said the PTI chief in Islamabad.

The JIT in its final report recommended the apex court to file reference against the prime minister and his two sons under NAB Ordinance.

According to ARY News Islamabad Bureau Chief Sabir Shakir, the JIT said in its report that: “PM’s sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz and his daughter Maryam Nawaz failed to produce satisfactory evidence in the offshore companies allegations against them.”

The probe body also recommended the court that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should initiate inquiry against PM and his two sons as well as Maryam Nawaz.

Imran said the Sharif family’s crime was money laundering which has decaying the whole nation. It was a bigger crime than corruption, he added.

He said the prime minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz has been found to be real owner of Mayfair flats in London and Nescol and Neilson companies. He said the number of charges against the Sharif family include involvement in corruption, money laundering, tax evasion, concealment of assets and lying to the people of Pakistan.

The PTI founder regretted that Nawaz should not have been prime minister throughout the investigation.

He again demanded from the PM to resign from his post. He further said Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq should also resign as he sent a reference against Imran while he was supposed to send reference against Nawaz.

“Cases were registered against me and other fellows in an attempt to pressurise us to back off from demanding justice,” he said.

He said the JIT’s struggle to bring justice to light deserved huge respect.

“This is the foundation of Naya Pakistan (new Pakistan). Naya Pakistan is not built through roads and bridges. Nation becomes mightier with strong institutions,” he said.

The PTI chief requested the top court to put all the Sharif family members’ names on ECL because they were involved in corruption of millions of dollars.

The PTI chief also lauded the judiciary upright movement in Musharraf’s era.
