HBO planning second ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel on House Targaryen

HBO is looking to work on a second prequel of ‘Game of Thrones‘ based on the violent House Targaryen.

US news agency Variety, citing sources, said the project would tell the story of the conquest and unification of six of the seven kingdoms along with construction of King’s Landing and the Red Keep by Aegon I Targaryen.

It is pertinent to mention Aegon I Targaryen was the first to sit on the Iron Throne, which he forged by thousands of his enemies.

The events in the possible prequel will be set 300 years before the events that unfolded in ‘A Game of Thrones

‘, the first instalment of the novel series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire‘ by the same author.

The project is in its early stages and the producers are yet to attach a writer to it.

HBO had announced numerous ‘Game of Thrones‘ projects but ‘House of the Dragon‘ is the only one that moved forward. It was released last year and was met with critical acclaim.
