PESHAWAR: Former Managing Director Bank of Khyber (BoK) Shamsul Qayyum on Friday has challenged his termination of employment order in Peshawar High Court (PHC) here.
Qayyum has adopted a stance in his petition that his services should be extended for two more years on basis of his exceptional performance as Managing Director (MD) Bank of Khyber.
He termed the provincial finance department’s sacking orders as a breach of the Constitution.
Moreover, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Finance Minister and Secretary Finance Minister are respondents in his petition.
Last week, the provincial government had decided to relieve the BoK chief of his duties in a cabinet meeting. He was charged with breaching section seven of his employment contract by publishing advertisements and leveling allegations against the provincial finance minister.
It merits to mention here that Qayyum had accused Jamaat-e-Islami (JI)’s Finance Minister Muzaffar Said of nepotism and corruption last year.
To which, the JI provincial lawmakers hinted at quitting the coalition government if the managing director not removed. Later, the party had expressed concerns over the delay in termination orders of BoK’s managing director.
