FIR registered against Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar

Bollywood superstars have been known to get wild every now and then, showing no regard to the law. Whether it be Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case or Sanjay Dutt’s serving jail-time for illegal possession of weapons, Indian film celebs have often been at odds with the law. Add Farhan Akhtar and Ranbir Kapoor’s names to that list.

The two actors might be in trouble, since their names have cropped up in an FIR that has been registered against a website, that allegedly ‘dupes’ its customers. In his FIR, the complainant accused both Farhan Akhtar and Ranbir Kapoor as being guilty of criminal breach of trust and forgery for promoting the website. Rajat Bansal, a resident of Keshav Nagar area in Madiyaon police station, registered the FIR under IPC sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (forgery) on September 19, police said.

The lawyer hasn’t left out those behind the online shopping portal and has named Sanjiv Gupta, Anand Sonbhadra, Piyush Pankaj, Kiran Kumar Sriniwas Murti and marketing officer Puja Goyal in the FIR. The name of the shopping portal is askmebazaar.com.

Rajat Bansal stated that he had bought a 40 inch LED from the website and paid the due amount for it, RS 39,999 via his debit card. However, contrary to what he was promised, the LED was not sent to him after the expiry of 10 days. Bansal was of the view that since Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar promote such websites, it promotes them and lures more customers into their trap.

Ranbir Kapoor will next be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s film Tamasha with Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.  He is also currently shooting for the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Pakistani actor Imran Abbas, Aishwarya Rai and Anushka Sharma. Tamasha and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will be Ranbir Kapoor’s films after three embarrassing failures such as Besharam, Roy and Bombay Velvet.
