Here’s a list of the most beloved, admired and celebrated dialogues of all time from Bollywood movies that we are sure are familiar to you as well!

1. “Kitne aadmi the?”

You knew we’d start off our list with this sensational line from the iconic Sholay. Amjad Khan as the tyrant Gabbar is about to wreak havoc on his henchmen. The men have just broken the news to him about their routing at the hands of some new faces in town (more appropriately, village). Gabbar immediately wants to know the ratio, so he lazily asks the above question.

2. “Mere paas maa hai”

Deewaar, the 1975 movie starring Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan as two brothers on the opposite sides of the law, was a huge hit. Amitabh, a person who has financial influence from illegal means, recounts his affluence in the form of a lofty house, an expensive car and wealth beyond measure. Shashi named his most prized asset, when he was asked by Amitabh as to what he held of value.

3. “Filmein sirf teen cheezon ki wajah se chalti hain- entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. Aur main entertainment hoon!”

Said by Vidya Balan, who was reprising the role of Silk Smitha, explains what sells to the public. Not shying away from the harsh realities of life, Vidya or should I say Silk, proudly proclaims her unique selling point. Entertainment!

4. “Tareekh pe tareekh, tareekh pe tareekh, tareekh pe tareekh milti gayi My Lord, par insaaf nahi mila”

Rages a furious Sunny Deol, clad in a lawyers gown and staring the judge dead in his eye. Defending a rape victim with the complex and outdated judicial system had taken a toll on Sunny Deol, who plays the attorney Govind in the movie Damini.

5. “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hai”

Immortalized by Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan in the original as well as remake version of Don, this line is gold. Whenever a police officer threatens the criminal with dire consequences, the cocky villain derides the concern with surety and defiance.

6. “Mogambo khush hua”

This line by Amresh Puri said in a heavy, deep throat voice and accompanied with an eery grin, made villains larger than life in 1987’s Mr.India.

7. “Tension lene ka nahin, sirf dene ka”

Said by the larger-than-life and happy-go-lucky criminal Munna in Munna Bhai MBBS. Every time calamity strikes people, Sanjay Dutt’s reassuring words pop into mind, at least getting rid of anxiety for the time being!

8. “Yeh Dhai Kilo Ka Haath Jab Kisi Pe Padta Hai Toh Aadmi Uthta Nahin Uth Jaata Hai”

Well, Sunny Leone has always starred in action movies and quite frankly, made for a threatening hero!

9.  “Main Jo Bolta Hoon Who Main Karta Hoon Aur Main Jo Nahi Bolta, Wo Main Definitely Karta Hoon”

Leave it to Akshay Kumar to conjure witty lines and humorous dialogues to have us doubling up with laughter! Tis Rowdy Rathore line did well to amuse the masses, however the same cannot be said about the film.

10. “Bade bade shehron mein aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain”

Shahrukh Khan’s cult classic film Dil Wale Dulhania Le Jayenge features the romantic hero apologize to Kajol this way. Even President Obama, on his recent trip to India, dabbled with these words yet left the dialogue in the mid, saying “You know what I mean.”
