FAISALABAD: Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing on Saturday announced the arrest of a cyber criminal for sending obscene and objectionable pictures to a number of university students.
According to details, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing sprung into action after a number of female students from the city’s GC University complained that man is harassing them by sending obscene photos, messages and sometimes their own pictures through unknown numbers.
The varsity students maintained that the man tried to blackmail them over their photos which he probably acquired by hacking university database.
FIA team traced the harasser and arrested him from his residence in Ilyas Park area of the city.
At least three smartphones, two laptop computers were recovered from the suspect named Ismail’s custody. The suspect is being interrogated while a case has been registered against him.
It is pertinent to note here that earlier this week, in another such scandal, was unearthed as it was reported that some unknown suspects have stolen data of various female students of Punjab University (PU) and are selling it on dark web.
Sources said that stolen data of the varsity’s female students, including phone numbers, photos and videos, was being traded to dark web users.

“The stolen data was transacted in renowned decentralised digital currency, Bitcoin, while this heinous business is still going on,” said sources. They confirmed that hackers have used spy apps for thieving the students’ information.
