ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday said that some content of the Panamagate JIT report “was based on a naked bias” and categorically denied rumors that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will resign or step aside, ARY News reported.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside another PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz, the minister maintained that the JIT report was based on sources and even the finding that Maryam Nawaz Sharif is the beneficial owner of two offshore companies starts with “probably”.
“What is probably? did they come up with a document to prove that the documents Maryam Nawaz submitted were fake?” asked the minister.
She repeated that the party had its reservations over some of the members of JIT and they were proven after this final report.
Terming the development which shook the entire Pakistan “a conspiracy”, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the Sharif family’s legal team is going through the report word by word and will contest it in the court.
She expressed the confidence that the apex court will do justice with them, and reject the JIT report. Marriyum Aurangzeb said the entire nation is supporting the Prime Minister.
‘PM owns no offshore firm’
Daniyal Aziz, on his turn, categorically rejected all allegations that PM Nawaz used to own an offshore firm.
The Panama JIT revealed that the premier has been managing a UAE-based offshore company namely Capital FZE. The report said, the probing team established that “not only was the company remained functional till 2014 but it apparently was being managed under direct control of Mian Nawaz Sharif as chairman of the board.”
Daniyal Aziz claimed that the JIT, in the final report, itself says that they could not complete the task assigned to them within time and 85 percent of the report is empty or has relied upon sources and uncertified documents.
He was of the view that this report will fail the legal test.
https://t.co/XHdT8qBXku
