Trump administration looking forward to work with Pakistan: Gen McMaster

ISLAMABAD: US National Security Advisor Lieutenant General Herbert Raymond McMaster has said that the administration of President Donald Trump looks forward to work with Pakistan to pursue the common objectives of peace and security and economic well being of the people.

General McMaster called Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Friday to exchange views on matters of bilateral interest, and appreciated the sacrifices made by armed forces of Pakistan and civilians to improve the security conditions.

He said that security was an important prerequisite to unlock the immense economic potential of the region, and the US administration would like to work closely with Pakistan in this regard.

He said that Pakistan had also made impressive progress on the economic side, and that he looked forward to meet the finance minister during his visit to Washington later this month.

Dar congratulated Gen McMaster on assuming the important role as the NSA, and said that he looked forward to working together to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

He said that the improved security conditions and economic turnaround in Pakistan provides an excellent opportunity to develop and promote an economic partnership between the two countries.

He further said that Pakistan believes in a peaceful neighbourhood and the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is keen to work for with friends and allies for peace and stability of the region and beyond.

Referring to the tremendous success of operation Zarb-e-Azb and encouraging results of the ongoing operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, he said that these demonstrate the commitment to eradicate terrorism.
