‘I tendered resignation due to personal reasons’: Sharjeel Memon

KARACHI: Refuting the media reports about reasons behind his resignation, former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Friday clarified that he had tendered resignation from Public Accounts Committee (PAC) due to personal reasons, ARY News reported.

Sharjeel Memon said that it was not true that he had quit PAC due to National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) reference against him. The Pakistan Peoples Party leader said that he was still member of other bodies of the Sindh Assembly.

Criticizing the federal government, Sharjeel Memon said that he had been kept in illegal confinement for last 18th months. He said that cases made against him were politically motivated.

Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, Sharjeel Inam Memon, on March 20, had  resigned as member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Memon was appointed as the PAC member yesterday (March 19) by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.

According to the former information minister Memon, “I am currently facing the investigation of the National Accountability Bureau…hence I cannot perform duties as the PAC member.”
