ISLAMABAD: Premier Imran Khan has approved the appointment of Shehryar Khan Afridi as the minister of state on matters coming under the ambit of Interior Ministry, sources said.
According to details, federal cabinet had decided to designate Mr. Afridi as minister of state for Interior and PM Khan gave a go-ahead to it afterwards.
The notification of the appointment will be issued today, as per the sources.
A day earlier, PM Imran made the remarks, during a detailed briefing on the Ministry of Interior and its attached department at Prime Minister’s Office, “Curbing corruption and retrieving wealth of the country, amassed through illegal means and laundered abroad, are among the biggest challenges for the government.”
He said that the interior ministry and its attached departments should play their role more effectively towards ensuring service delivery, improving overall security situation in the country to provide a sense of security to the citizens.
