KARACHI: Sindh High Court Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh on Saturday took notice of the failure of Sindh police to arrest the killers of a 19-year-old girl who her parents say was murdered by a land lord upon their refusal to marry her to him.

Tania Khaskheli, 19, was murdered in her house last Saturday in Jhangara Bajara town in the Dadu district.

The SHC chief justice directed the DIG Hyderabad and SSP Dadu to appear on Sept 19 along with reports with regard to the murder case.

Her parents and a sister during a press conference had alleged that the local police were not arresting Tania’s killers due to their political influence.

They said that influential land lord of Jhangara Bajara town, Khan Noohani, along with his armed associated barged into the house and tried to kidnap her, but due to strong resistance put up by the family, he got furious and shot dead her.

Khan had been pressing them to marry Tania to him but they had turned down the proposal, they said and alleged that Khan had twice tried to kidnap her in the recent past.

Subsequently, the family had registered an FIR against Khan Noohani, Maula Bukhsh and other unknown culprits at the Jhangara Bajara police station.
