“Shahid Afridi is a legendary player, a world figure, taking his wicket was my dream which came true,” says Lahore Qalandars’ pacer Shaheen Afridi about the wicket everyone is talking about this PSL.

Saheen, who is being dubbed a future star for Pakistan cricket, dismissed star all-rounder Shahid Afridi in the 20th over of his team’s March 11 clash against Karachi Kings, a ball after  getting whacked for a maximum by ‘Boom Boom’. Lahore Qalandars eventually won the match in a super over.

On his thoughts on being a part of Lahore Qalandars he said that he feels “blessed” to be a part of such a team where everyone from skipper to coach is so supportive.

“I was truly disheartened when I was dropped from the team after playing a couple of matches. I asked my seniors for guidance on my bowling skills and where I was going wrong and they helped and gave me great advice to improve my game. Waqar Younis also helped me a lot. I am truly thankful to him,” Shaheen added.

When asked who his inspiration and role model, the 17-year-old said that he is a great fan of Pakistan’s legendary pacer Wasim Akram.

Shaheen Afridi, who played the recently concluded under-19 Cricket World Cup, made his Twenty20 debut for Lahore Qalandars against Multan Sultans this PSL season and has been lauded by cricketing pundits and fans alike for his performance.

In the March 9 encounter against Sultans, Shaheen Afridi delivered a match-winning performance by taking five wickets by conceding only four runs. The victory was also Lahore’s first in the PSL season 3.
