All set for first-ever international wrestling event in Karachi today

KARACHI: As many as 25 International Wrestlers – including four women – from 20 countries will be seen in actions in the first-ever international wrestling event in Pakistan here at the KMC Sports Complex today (Wednesday), ARY News reported.

According to the reports, 19 wrestlers had reached Karachi including former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Wade Barret while six from the United States and Canada would arrive today.

Security arrangements have been finalized for the showpiece while the organisers will reportedly stage shows in Lahore and Islamabad respectively in the coming few days.

Tickets worth Rs1500 to Rs15000 had already been put on sale.

Ten percent quota had reportedly been kept for under-privileged class of the society, in order to not deprive them of entertainment opportunities.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar and Sindh Sports Minister will be present at the opening ceremony due to be held at 6:00pm today (Wednesday).

The number of wrestlers from France was reportedly maximum than any other country.

Pakistan origin wrestler Badshah Pehalwan Khan, who is based in France, USA’s Flesh Gordon, England’s Tiny Iron and Wade Barrett are among the prominent wrestlers of the event.

WWE star and English actor Wade Barrett on his arrival at Karachi air port had said that it was wonderful to be in Pakistan and he was looking forward to the magical competitions.

Badshah Pahalwan was heard saying here at the Jinnah International Airport that they were going to make history and they would show it to the world that Pakistan also had the ability to stage such events.
