Sasha Nawaz Magsi: Balochistan girl beats patriarchy and disability to fulfill her dreams

Published on

Quetta: Sasha Nawaz Magsi, a woman residing in a heavily male dominated area is one of the many women in our society fighting to make a place for themselves and refusing to let a natural obstacle govern their lives.

Sasha is a BSC graduate and working in a bank as a Customer Services Officer for the past 10 years.

Speaking to ARY News, Sasha recalls how it all began, “I have this by birth but I have had people around me always support me very much.” Having studied in a regular school, Sasha says, “I did have a few problems with my education like climbing stairs for which two people had to take me which made me feel very uncomfortable but my teachers and the students were very cooperative.”

But there is nothing she could have achieved without her parents support, “My mother used to pick and drop me. First and foremostly, I would like to thank my parents without whose support this wouldn’t be possible.”

She completed her BSC from Govt Girls College Jinnah Town. Like every person, there was a time in her life which she believes turned everything around for her and that was her mum’s belief on her, “The turning point of my life is that my mom never let me be weak, she never let me feel that I am physically weak.”

She believes that all a woman needs to do is have complete faith in herself.“Nothing is difficult as long as you want to do something for yourself. When a woman can look after a husband, his family, children, a home then she can take care of the entire world too. I feel proud that I am a woman, I feel proud that I am wheelchair bound and I feel proud that I am the daughter of my parents”
