KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government on Sunday said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement about giving master plan to Karachi was a blatant violation of the 18th Amendment of the Constitution of Pakistan, ARY News reported.

In a reaction to his speech at the Sindh Governor House, the provincial minister said Imran should be concerned about solid waste disposal of Peshawar instead of Karachi. He said the chief justice during his recent visit had express satisfaction over cleanliness in the megalopolis.

This should be noted that under the 18th Amendment powers were delegated to provinces to give them autonomy in various sectors.

The Pakistan Peoples Party leader said the premier should have condemned the idea of construction of Kalabagh dam.

PM Imran in his speech pledged to restore Karachi as the city of lights, build Northern Bypass for easy traffic flow of vehicles, give 20 years’ master plan, improve intra-city railways system and establish water recycling plant in Korangi Industrial Area.

He said he would fully cooperate with the Sindh government for the betterment of Karachi. He said terrorism had declined in the city, but street crimes had increased.

“The reason behind rise of street crimes is lack of education,” he said.

The PM said about 0.25 million Bangladeshi immigrants and Afghan refugees were living in the city who got into crimes after not finding jobs.
