ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Tuesday terming the revival of country’s economy, as a challenge, said steps are being taken to put economy back on the track.
Talking to journalists in the federal capital here today, he said steps are being taken to recover country’s ‘ill’ economy.
“When Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came into power, country was going to default,” said Fawad, adding that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have helped Pakistan in addressing the economic crisis.
Mr Fawad said positive trend has been witnessed in filing of tax returns as 1.5 million people have filed tax turns this year.
He said increase in foreign reserves will help in solving bulk of country’s problems, it passing through currently, “ The opening of Kartarpur corridor for Sikh pilgrims will also bring economic benefits,” the minister continued.
Replying to a query, the information minister said steps are being taken to curb money laundering
Fawad Chaudhry said country’s image is improving with every passing day; Pakistan is also playing its effective role for brining peace in Afghanistan.
Focusing China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the minister said it was early focused on infrastructure, but now it is being expanded with the inclusion of agriculture and other sectors in it.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated his government’s resolve to facilitate small and medium industry and exporters of the country.
Addressing the 42nd award ceremony of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Islamabad, the premier said both are the backbone of commerce and trade in any country.
He said obstacles in the way of doing business will be removed to give boost to small and medium enterprises. He said several steps have already been taken to facilitate the exports industry.
