“We will provide complete security to transporters and unruly elements who tried to disrupt the business activities of Karachi will not be spared,” clarified the DG Rangers.

MQM announced to stage a protest against what they thought was ‘misconduct of Rangers personnel’ and the cordoning off the residence of Farooq Sattar during a search operation in the PIB area of Karachi.

Nevertheless, life in the city along with all the business activities continues to remain normal.

In a statement issued late night, MQM’s Coordination Committee requested people to keep their businesses and transport closed across the Sindh province on June 8.

MQM alleged in the statement that Rangers personnel charged the residence of Sattar and hit the gate of his house hard with their rifles and shoes.

“The Rangers operation in Karachi is only and only against MQM,” said the statement.

MQM leaders Wasay Jalil and Nadeem Nusrat also confirmed the late night development through their tweets.

Nusrat said that the raid was a shot by the security agencies to overpower MQM’s leadership and to switch its loyalties.

Soon after the media reported the incident, the DG Rangers quickly issued a clarification on Tuesday saying the paramilitary force did not raid the house of Farooq Sattar but they did, however, conducted a search operation in the PIB Colony over a tip-off regarding the presence of some criminal elements.
