LAHORE: An adjournment motion has been submitted in Punjab Assembly over use of hazardous chemicals in cosmetics items , ARY News reported on Saturday.
“Use of harmful chemicals in the fairness creams, which are easily available in the market, causing skin problems and cancer among women,” reads the adjournment motion tabled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s MPA, Musarat Jamsheed.
There has been a sharp increase in the number of skin damage cases due to use of instant fairness creams and other cosmetics products in the province, the motion reads.
The motion further said, more than 15,000 products of fairness creams, shampoos are easily available in the market, without brand test by the concerned authorities.
The concerned authorities have been urged to take action against such hazardous makeup products, which are causing skin problems and lethal disease of the cancer.
Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) responsible for checking quality of the cosmetics products, earlier in the month of December, had issued notices to beauty cream and cosmetics manufacturers over serious health concerns and has termed a major health hazard.
