RAHIM YAR KHAN: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday said that her father and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was punished for being honest and demanding respect for vote, ARY News reported.
Addressing a public rally in Sadiqabad tehsil of Rahim Yar Khan, the firebrand PML-N leader said that detractors tried their best to prove Nawaz Sharif corrupt but when failed to even prove a minor charge of corruption deposed him on possessing a UAE iqama (work/residence permit).
“Nawaz Sharif developed Pakistan in all of this three terms but was punished for speaking for your rights, demanding respect for your vote,” Maryam Nawaz told a charged crowd in Sadiqabad.
Maryam Nawaz urged the people of Sadiqabad to vote for honest and geniune leadership and reject “pawns” like Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Zardari and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in the upcoming general elections.
“Do remember their (Zardari and Imran) faces, they disrespected your vote… promise me, you will make an example of them during 2018 elections,” Maryam demanded from the people of Sadiqabad.
‘PTI only fooling nation’
PML-N’s lifelong Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, during his speech, lashed out at political opponents PTI and PPP but said that they don’t stand a chance against PML-N as the party is popular among the masses.
“Imran Khan, you don’t stand a chance against me, Zardari, you are nothing.. we have no competition with you, our competition is with aliens,” said Nawaz while referring to PTI chief and PPP co-chairman.
He maintained that PTI is just fooling the nation with empty slogans of change as their performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is before the people of Pakistan.
