ISLAMABAD: On the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan, a special aircraft will bring back over 320 Pakistanis from Malaysia on Wednesday (May 29), Radio Pakistan reported.

The prime minister accorded approval to bring back 320 Pakistani citizens who were lodged in Malaysian jails and have now completed their prison term.

These Pakistanis could not come back home earlier owing to cancellation of direct flights between the two countries in the last week of February following the tensed regional situation.

PM Khan issued special directives to arrange return of these stranded detainees so that they may reach their homes and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families.

The spokesperson of the Prime Minister House said that the special plane, carrying Pakistanis, will arrive on May 29 in Islamabad.

The Pakistan International Airline, Foreign Office and Bait-ul-Maal are mutually working in this regard, he added.

In February, five Pakistani prisoners, who were jailed in Saudi Arabia, reached Lahore as a royal decree was issued on Feb 19, ordering the release of as many as 2107 Pakistani prisoners languishing in the prisons of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a request by Prime Minister Imran Khan during the former’s two-day visit of Islamabad.
