Inspector General (IG) of Sindh police A.D. Khawaja was briefing provincial chief minister Qaim Ali Shah during the Sindh cabinet meeting in Karachi on Tuesday.
Khawaja said several suspects in both the cases were still under investigation, while insisting that police were close to the killers of Amjad Sabri, who was gunned down in broad daylight in Liaquatabad area of the metropolis on June 22.
IG Sindh was also certain that Advocate Owais Shah, son Chief Justice Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, was still in Karachi and not in the country’s tribal north-west area of Landi Kotal.

Shedding light the abduction case, he said the abductors have not been able to take Owais Shah away from Karachi.
“Abductors tried to mislead the investigating team by switching on Owais Shah’s mobile phone in a bid to maintain that he was in some other location,” said the IG Sindh.
Owais Shah was abducted from near a supermarket in Clifton area of Karachi on June 20.
Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) also won high praise from the Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah during the meeting, where he appreciated the way agencies did crackdowns against miscreants in the city.
The chief minister said, “Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have crushed the roots of militants and extortionists satisfactorily in Karachi and the government would rev up efforts to stabilise its security departments.”
Qaim Ali Shah said the government must meet the huge challenge of finding the murderers of Amjad Sabri and the abductors of Owais Shah. He was hopeful of achieving a major breakthrough in both the cases.
