Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, in a statement issued today, said that the government cannot allow misuse of laws and capturing of lands of poor at low costs, for the benefit of a specific segment of society.
He instructed the chief commissioner Islamabad to ensure that local administration does not be part of any such schemes. He cancelled the allotment of land for a housing scheme in Bara Kahu under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, and ordered the special interior secretary to probe the matter.
The minister said that he will support every scheme meant to provide land to poor government employees in the federal capital, provided if the land is purchased on market rates from rural inhabitants of Islamabad.
“Be it a private mafia or someone under the shelter of a government figure, they will not be allowed to capture lands from anyone as long as I am holding the office of interior minister,” he asserted.
