Former Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho on Sunday confirmed his visit to Pakistan to promote the sport in the country.
In a short video clip posted on his social media account, holding Pakistani flag in both his hands he said, “Pakistan, I am coming.”
Ronaldo will participate in an exhibition match in Leisure Leagues Pakistan. However, the date of the match and who will play is not known yet.
The 36-year-old is regarded to be one of the best players of his generation. He was part of the World Cup 2002 winner national team and was a crucial player along with Ronaldo and Rivaldo.
Ronaldinho has played 97 matches and scored 33 goals for the Brazil national team.
He won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2004 and 2005. He is also known for club career most notably with Paris-Saint Germain and Barcelona.
Leisure Leagues is a UK-based organisation which holds five, six and seven-a-side leagues in Europe and USA.
It was recently launched in Pakistan to discover the football talent and provide a platform or the player to represent Pakistan football at an international level.
Last month, President Tim Ollerenshaw revealed plans to launch their operations in Pakistan from next year.
“The best thing is that anyone can play these leagues and that will give a lot of opportunities to many people to showcase their skills,” he said.
The launch was hailed by national football players, including Kaleemullah, captain Hassan Bashir and women’s team captain Hajra Khan.
Pakistan is currently at 198 on the FIFA men’s world ranking.
