GUJRAT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday claimed to have rounded up two human traffickers from Gujrat, ARY News reported.
As per details, the FIA arrested two agents, who were involved in human trafficking in Gujrat, and recovered illegal passports, fake rubber stamps and other stuff from their custody.
Cases have been lodged against the arrested agents, said officials of the FIA.
Back in the month of December, 2018, the FIA had arrested seven human traffickers, eleven deportees, and two other persons for trying to travel abroad on bogus documents from Sialkot International Airport.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had summoned interior and foreign secretaries in a case pertaining to human trafficking in the country, especially Punjab where a number of such cases have surfaced lately.
Headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, a three-judge bench had also summoned Advocate General Punjab to assist in the case.
The court observed there were issues stemming from lack of coordination between the state institutions.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general informed the court that Gujranwala was hit hard by the issue of human trafficking.
To this, the judges pointed out that people-trafficking has also rife in the areas of Gujrat, Lala Musa, Sarae Alamgir and Mandi Bahauddin.
“The ulcer of human-smuggling has to be eradicated,” CJP observed.
