All facts about Islamabad sit-in to be placed before Senate: Zafarul Haq

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq on Monday said all facts about Islamabad sit-in would be placed before the House in a day or two.

“A discussion can also be held on the issue in the parliament,” he said while speaking in the Senate.

Earlier, Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani said either the prime minister or the interior minister should have apprised the House about the deal reached with the protestors.

Raza Rabbani also summoned Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal over overnight deal with protesters of Tehreek e Labaik Pakistan (TLP) without taking the parliament into confidence.

The three-week long sit-in in Islamabad along with countrywide protests that sprung up in aftermath of a crackdown finally began to vanish on Monday after protesting religious party announced reaching an agreement with the government.

Winding up a discussion on the adjournment motions regarding the increase in prices of petroleum products, Minister of State for Petroleum Jam Kamal said that Pakistan had less petroleum prices as compared to the neighbouring countries.

Minister for Commerce Pervaiz Malik apprised the Senate that Pakistan’s interests were kept supreme while concluding Free Trade Agreements with other countries.
