KARACHI: Employees of one of the top private airlines of the country has written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, seeking measures on war-footing basis to revive the airline and address financial issues faced by its workers, ARY News reported.
According to the employees, Shaheen Airlines is the second best airline of the country, and has been operating on the national and international routes for the past 25 years. “Our flight operations have been suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the CAA also sealed our head office, due to non-payment of dues. FBR has also sealed our main accounts due to non-payment of taxes by the carrier.”
The letter, addressed to the PM, said the owner of the airline had also left Pakistan after suspension of flight operations. It said the names of owners were also placed on the Exit Control List, leaving around 5,000 workers without salaries and in a state of joblessness.
The employees appreciated the PM for his vision to provide five million jobs, however, adding that unemployment of approximately 5000 workers of the airline was also a issue of serious concern.
“We request you to take the notice of the worst state of airline and its employees and provide opportunity to restart its flights operations…”
