Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad arrives in Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s jet landed on the Nur Khan Air base Chaklala today (Saturday) evening who is on an official visit to Pakistan, ARY News reported.

The Qatari Emir was received by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan upon arrival and was given a twenty one cannon salute by the Pakistan Armed Forces.

Pakistan ace fighting jet, the J-17 Thunder accompanied the Emir’s plane before it’s landing to pay their respects to the high ranking dignitary.

The Qatari emir, who is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials, according to the Foreign Office.

The Emir who was then taken to the Prime Minister house in a car personally chauffeured by Imran Khan where upon arrival Sheikh Tamim sowed a plant giving further credence to Pakistan’s commitment towards the environment.

Sheikh Tamim was then introduced to the contingent of Federal Ministers present to greet and meet the foreign dignitary and his staff by the Prime Minister.

A special Army battalion also paid their respects to the Qatari Emir with a guard of honor as JF-17 Thunder jets flew above the Prime Minister House for their final salutations.

Shiekh is set to hold talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan and will also have a meeting with President Dr Arif Alvi.

The two sides will discuss ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership.

During the visit, Pakistan and Qatar is expected to sign several (Memorandums of Understanding) MoUs to enhance bilateral cooperation in different areas.

In a statement prior to the arrival, Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan Saqar Bin Mubarak Al Mansouri said the visit of the Qatari emir will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations and added it will also establish a future partnership based relationship between the two countries.

The envoy said the emir will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries as well as a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern with Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Dr Arif Alvi.

He highlighted that Qatar and Pakistan enjoy good relations and they both shared a common vision to strengthen them in various fields.
