ISLAMABAD: Responding to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent speech during Azadi March, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor said that the army remains impartial in such circumstances and is not loyal to any political party but the state of Pakistan, ARY News reported on Friday.

Talking exclusively to ARY News, the military’s spokesperson said, “Pakistan Army is an impartial institution and always supports democratic governments in the country.” He, however, added that no one will be allowed to destabilize the country or create a law and order crisis.

About Maulana Fazl’s act of questioning the neutrality of some institutions, the military’s spokesman maintained that the JUI-F chief should clarify as to which institution he was referring to during the speech.

He said that Army had fulfilled its constitutional responsibility during the elections last year and advised the opposition to raise their concerns at the concerned forum.

The military spokesperson concluded by saying that  the opposition should not hurl baseless allegations by taking to streets and find political solutions to political issues.

Earlier, JUI-F chief, while addressing his party’s supporters in Islamabad, gave Prime Minister Imran Khan a two-day ultimatum to resign and questioned the neutrality of some state institutions.
