ISLAMABAD: Ayesha Gulalai Wazir, the MNA who announced to leave Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) today, later did a press conference and said that the party chief Imran Khan and his cronies send indecent text messages to female members, ARY News reported.
Gulalai categorically rejected the PTI claim that she demanded party ticket to contest elections from NA-1, and said that there are several other reasons which led to the decision to leave PTI, one of which was indecent messages from Imran Khan and his cronies.
“I don’t want ticket from this party, their standards are different, which people like us cannot meet,” said Gulalai.
Gulalai claimed that she received the first objectionable message from Imran Khan in October 2013 and if anyone wants a proof, he or she can check the PTI chief’s phone.
Among other reasons, she maintained that Imran Khan is overlooking corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as she herself went to the party chief with “proofs of corruption” against KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak but to no avail.
“I liked this party’s vision in the start but I stopped attending them because the meetings were only about defaming political opponents and mocking them,” said Gulalai.
She added that Imran Khan once even badmouthed former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, a lady she used to respect like her mother.
‘Coordinated effort’
Reacting to her press conference, PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said that if she thinks that PTI is such a bad party then she should leave her NA seat.
“This is an old tactic. These are the same tactics PML-N used against Benazir Bhutto and Imran Khan in the past,” said Fawad Chaudhry.
He maintained that PML-N is using “such women” as tools to defame Imran Khan and PTI as they know that their cases against the PTI chief will not lead to his disqualification.
Fawad Chaudhry also claimed that the whole episode is a “coordinated effort” between a media group and PML-N.
