Indian singer and composer AR Rahman has mostly been revered and respected throughout the world for his acute sense of music. However, the artist recently landed in troubled, following his participation in Muhammad: Messenger of God film. The movie is the first of a trilogy which will focus on prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his life.

A Mumbai-based group issued a fatwa against AR Rahman for being part of the project, as the singer is overseeing the musical part of the film. The same group also targeted Majid Majidi in their fatwa, who is the director of Muhammad: Messenger of God.
Following the fatwa, AR Rahman canceled a scheduled concert at Mumbai. Though the composer’s team stated that Rahman was busy with other engagements, the organization committee confirmed that he had canceled due to the fatwa pressure.
This is what AR Rahman’s team said regarding him being busy for the concert.
“We had to cancel our visit to Delhi owing to Rahman’s work commitments. He is travelling to Europe for work and could not be in Delhi. We are not releasing any official statement on this so far.”

Whether or not the prolific musician has caved in to the fatwa pressure, only time will tell or perhaps AR Rahman himself!
