Andy Flower anticipates great cricket action during ‘Independence Cup’

LAHORE: Anticipating a great cricket action, World XI Coach Andy Flower on Monday said that he is glad to be coach of the star-studded team.

The former Zimbabwean skipper was addressing a press conference here alongside with World XI captain Faf du Plessis when he said that the foreign players are glad to be part of this ecstatic moment as Pakistan is celebrating the return of international cricket.

“This brave nation suffered for a very long time being deprived of international cricket,” Flower said.

Terming the tour of international players as a significant milestone, Flower said that Pakistan helped Zimbabwean cricket a lot back in the 1990s.

On the occasion, South Africa’s Faf du Plessis said that he is glad playing in Pakistan. “Talking about these moments with family someday would definitely delight me,” he added.

Expressing his excitement for participation in the historic series, he took pride in leading the World XI side.

“It provides a rare opportunity for players to be a part of something bigger than just cricket,” Plessis said.

Earlier today, the international players had arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport here amid tight security, a day before the much-anticipated three-match Twenty20 (T20) series against Pakistan gets begin on Tuesday (September 12).
