Sources have said that officials have initially prepared a draft comprising of 11 pages, which will be submitted in the judicial commission once approved by the ECP.
The ECP rejected all the allegations with respect to alleged irregularities in General Elections 2013.
The draft states, “International observers had declared the elections transparent”. The reports by these observers were also made part of the ECP reply.
Ballot papers
Officials stated that the ballot papers for the Elections 2013 were not printed from market, while these papers also carried special features.
“Printing and distribution of ballot papers was held under the military’s supervision,” read the draft.
Magnetic ink
The ECP had magnetic ink prepared by the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) and the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) formally approved the use of that ink, stated ECP officials.
All the allegations in this regard are ‘baseless’, they added.
Closed-door consultation
ECP officials held a prolonged closed-door consultation on Wednesday in the presence of DG ECP and gathered relative material to produce before the commission on rigging headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk.
Sources further told that the reply will be submitted in the judicial commission once the ECP approves the draft.
It is pertinent to note here that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had accused DG Sher Afgan of his involvement in irregularities in General Elections 2013, along with several other people.
