DSP Imran Babar Jameel was arrested on May 05 and sent to prison on seven-day remand. He had pleaded innocence and claimed that a conspiracy was being hatched against him.
On Thursday, Jameel appeared before the court where he told that he had reached a settlement with the girl’s family and requested for release.
The court ordered him to deposit surety bonds worth Rs 100,000 and ordered his release.
Jameel was suspended on February 20 by Inspector General (IG) Punjab Mustaq Sukhera, who had ordered an inquiry into the incident. After the arrest, Jameel had criticized him and the Punjab government.
