He said that he was in India for a religious and spiritual visit. He was a patriotic citizen and his identity lied in Pakistan and he would return to his country soon.
He denied media reports that he was considering to permanently move to India as baseless and completely unfounded.
Kaneria said that he was facing difficult situation in his life and had come to seek prayers. It is unfortunate that his visit was taken in a negative light.
He said that Muslims visit Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage but it did not imply that they are moving to the country.
Kaneria had arrived in India on Sunday along with his family. The leg-spinner is currently barred from all forms of cricket due to a spot-fixing scandal.
